I am writing to seek assistance regarding a problem I am facing with the WordPress WP Mail SMTP plugin.

I have conducted several tests and verified that the plugin is functioning correctly when sending emails to my Google account. However, when attempting to send emails to Outlook Microsoft accounts, no messages are received. I have thoroughly reviewed the plugin settings and configurations but have been unable to identify the root cause of this issue.

To provide you with more information, here are the details of my setup:

    WordPress Version: ?6.2.2
VP Mail SMTP Plugin Version: Version 3.8.0
    SMTP Provider: Mailgun

I kindly request your guidance and support in troubleshooting this problem. Could you please investigate the issue and suggest possible solutions? I am eager to resolve this matter promptly as I rely on the ability to send emails to Outlook Microsoft accounts for my business communication.

    Hi, @marvari!

Thanks for reaching out, and I’m sorry for the trouble!

Please kindly know, that the WP Mail SMTP plugin is responsible for sending emails from your website. Our plugin routes all emails to the mailing service (in this case, Mailgun), and the mailing service is responsible for the email receiving.

The issue with the email receiving could occur if the needed DNS records (SPF, DKIM) are not added, or set up incorrectly, and/or your email deliverability score is low because previously you were sending not authenticated emails or you are blacklisted.

Please make sure that you followed our guide on how to configure the Mailgun mailer step-by-step here.

And you can check your email deliverability score here. You’ll get a report with issues and ways to improve.

If all points above have no troubles, it might be that your inbox (where you were sending the test email) has some specific spam protection filters. Please, check it.

Also, it’s possible that Mailgun is queuing/rejecting some specific emails. Please, reach out to the Mailgun support team about the status of emails that were sent. They’d hopefully be able to help!

    Kind regards.

Got the same issue with Outlook Microsoft. Then I’m able to fix it by switching to YaySMTP — they allow using extra SMTP providers in their free version, which is great for me.
