Issue with slowdown with my WP Theme

  • I’m having a sudden problem with the theme on my site leimrod.com. It has been running fine for weeks and now all of a sudden the whole page has slowed down. Scrolling up and down causes the page to respond very slowly.

    The plugins I am using are:
    *AdSense Manager
    *Akismet
    *All in One SEO Pack
    *NextGEN Gallery
    *Sociable
    *Twitter for WordPress
    *wp-cache
    *WP-SpamFree

    I’ve tried disabling all of these plugins and it did not resolve the issue. When I disable this theme and make the default theme active the page responds normally.

    I’ve tested my page in the browsers below:
    Firefox 3.0.5
    Firefox 3.1b2 – with JIT enabled
    IE 7
    Google Chrome

    It seems to respond the best in Chrome for some reason. If any of you have any advice on this issue I’d really appreciate it.

  • Scrolling up and down causes the page to respond very slowly.

    Slow page scrolling is a common problem with css fixed backgrounds (which your theme uses).

    weird, I just tried it out on my home PC which is running FF 3.0.5 but Vista instead of XP. There is no problems with the site on my home PC. My home pc is a lot more powerful than my work pc. Is the issue with css fixed backgrounds hardware specific? Or can it be fixed in the browser?

    This css effect is just slower in general, but it is MUCH more noticeable in some older/slower browsers and computers. Your pages are a bit slow-scrolling in my Firefox 2, but just fine in Opera.

    crap… I’ll start looking for another theme I guess ?? I really liked that one, if its browser and pc specific theres no other way I can fix it without removing it.

    I’ve been looking into this more and I don’t think its the theme, I’ve tried a few other themes and I’m experiencing some degree of slowdown also.

    Plus, I found some other sites running the same theme and they don’t have any slowdown either.

    Can someone confirm that they are also experiencing this slowdown when scrolling up and down my site.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.
