    Hello.
I am using “Form maker” plugin and recently ran into a problem. In the letter after submitting the form, incomprehensible characters appeared in the subject field, for example:
    =?UTF-8?Q?=D0=A2=D0=B5=D1=81=D1=82=20=D0=BE=D1=82=D0=BF=D1=80=D0=B0=D0=B2?= =?UTF-8?Q?=D0=B8=D0=BB=20=D0=B7=D0=B0=D0=BF=D1=80=D0=BE=D1=81=20=D1=81=20?= =?UTF-8?Q?=D1=81=D0=B0=D0=B9=D1=82=D0=B0=20tks-service=2Eru?=

I am using Cyrillic characters and it has been fine. In this case, the form data (also in Cyrillic) is normally recorded in the database, Database encoding is utf8. The email body with form data is fine too.
Please help to solve the problem.

    Hi @tkservice,

    Thanks for your inquiry.

A few of our users have reported this issue but we could not replicate the issue in our test environment.

This has occurred after WordPress 5.5 update right?

Can you please try to use SMTP plugin for sending emails and check whether you get the issue again.

You can try this plugin for example: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/wp-smtp/
Setting an external SMTP server, such as GMail should work. However, GMail requires authentication. Please find the necessary details for SMTP setup below.

    Mailer: smtp
    SMTP Authentication: yes
    SMTP Security: SSL
    SMTP Port: 465
SMTP Username: your gmail full address
    SMTP Password: your gmail password
    SMTP Host: smtp.gmail.com

Please get back to me with results.

Hi @zhannak in addition: the WP ver. is 5.5-ru_RU and the PHP ver. is 7.4.8 if it helps.

    Hi @zhannak,

we have since update to 5.5 the same error with german “umlaute”.
    Subject looks like this: =?UTF-8?Q?Beitrittserkl=C3=A4rung=20zum=20Tierschutzverein?=

Using WP 5.5–de_DE & PHP 7.4.8 with nginx. Paid Form Maker Plugin Ver. 2.13.40
With the Plugin WP SMTP is working fine, but that can’t be the solution for a paid plugin.

    Best regards,
    Maik

    Hello,
When I input symbols or Chinese characters, the title will be garbled. I checked the original file and found the title as follows:
    Subject: =?us-ascii?Q?=3D=3FUTF-8=3FQ=3F=3DE9=3D80=3D99=3DE6=3D98=3DA?= =?us-ascii?Q?F=3DE6=3DB8=3DAC=3DE8=3DA9=3DA6=3F=3D?=
    Thank you very much.

I see this question is marked as [Resolved]
But after my test, the title of the letter still has garbled characters:

When I input symbols or Chinese characters, the title will be garbled. I checked the original file and found the subject as follows:
    Subject: =?us-ascii?Q?=3D=3FUTF-8=3FQ=3F=3DE9=3D80=3D99=3DE6=3D98=3DA?= =?us-ascii?Q?F=3DE6=3DB8=3DAC=3DE8=3DA9=3DA6=3F=3D?=

Do I need to set anything?
