Issue with Tagline Not Displaying in OceanWP Theme

  • I have set our site’s tagline to “Welcome to the SJSU ALASC” and told it to display in the customization settings. However, all of a sudden, it has started displaying the post title of our most recent posts in that blue stripe where the tagline used to be and I cannot figure out how to revert back to having the tagline in this spot. I don’t want to turn off the page title display entirely because I need those page titles to display on individual pages/posts, but can’t figure out how to get the tagline to come back in that space on our homepage (which we are essentially using as a blog).

    If you want to show the Tagline on the blog archive page, you should install a third-party plugin; this is not related to the theme. It is in WordPress and happens with the “Twenty Twenty-Three” theme. Please check this screenshot: https://i.postimg.cc/3wdfQ1W2/image.png.

    Usually, you can solve this by using an SEO plugin.

    The problem is, I don’t want to change my theme. We are happy with OceanWP, and this wasn’t an issue until recently. It used to display our tagline on the homepage but all of a sudden has started displaying our most recent post in the spot where the tagline used to be.

    In which version you saw the tagline on the home page?
    Perhaps your home page wasn’t an archive page. If you set another page(except posts) as a home page, then the tagline will show on the home page, but now, the content of the home page on your website is the post’s archives.

    Ugh…wasted half a day looking for the right way to do this.

    Go into Customizing ? HeaderGeneral and then select “Top Menu” in the Style section dropdown (it’s right at the top of the customizing pane).

    The Tag Line as set in Customizing > Site Identity will now appear on every page.
