Issue with the Woocommerce Coupon and PHP 7.4

Firstly, it’s important to ensure that all your plugins, themes, and WordPress itself are up-to-date. This is because outdated versions can sometimes cause compatibility issues with newer PHP versions. If everything is up-to-date and the issue persists, I suggest performing a conflict test by switching to a default WordPress theme, and then deactivating all plugins except WooCommerce to see if the issue is gone, if yes, that means a theme or a plugin is contributing to the issue. Re-enable each to see which one causes it. You can find a more detailed explanation of how to do a conflict test here.

It might also help if you could please share a copy of your site’s System Status Report so that we can better understand your site’s current environment. You can find this by navigating to:

Checking your SSR, I can confirm that you are using an older version of PHP here. Please be reminded that one of the minimum server recommendations to run WooCommerce smoothly is PHP version 7.4. You can read more about that here: WooCommerce Server Recommendations

If you’re having issues when upgrading to PHP version 7.4, this is most likely not WooCommerce-related. It could be due to a third-party plugin or your theme that might be causing the conflict here.

As such, you were advised to perform a full conflict test to verify what is causing the issue here. I’d recommend cloning your site to a staging environment and performing the tests described on this guide without modifying your live site or impacting customers. Many hosts provide staging facilities, so it’s worth checking in with them. It’s also possible to do it using the free WP Staging plugin.

If this was caused by a third-party plugin present on your site, it would be best to reach out to the developers for further assistance here.

If this did not resolve the issue, please provide the fatal error logs (if any) under WooCommerce > Status > Logs.

Customer cannot scan the QR code that I have created for each salesperson nor enter it manually as it puts the Checkout page on my site into a load loop and causes a critical error on my web page.

In addition, can you please share with us how QR Codes were added to your site as this is not part of the core functions of WooCommerce?

The issue is the plugin most likley then as when I update my PHP to 7.4 the errors occur but at 7.3 they do not.  Below is my Woocommerce report with PHP set to 7.4 (the one above is PHP at 7.3) So again this Woocommerce status report is with PHP set to 7.4 which always causes a critical error whenever a customer/supporter uses one of the QR Codes generate by the Add coupon by link / URL coupons for Woocommerce plugin I am using to generate unique QR codes for our fundraising teens.

After checking it and from what I understand you are using the third-party plugin, Add coupon by link / URL coupons / Add coupon by Qr Code for Woocommerce, to create the coupons, correct?

And the error occurs when a buyer uses the code you generated with this plugin, right?

Please note that if this is correct you will need to contact the plugin developer so they can assist you with that, as the issue is with their plugin, not Woo.

But please note that after checking it, I noticed that it says the plugin was not tested with the current version of WordPress yet. We don’t usually recommend using out of date plugins as they can cause conflicts and errors such as this.
