    Dear Plugin Author,
I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to bring to your attention a potential issue I’ve encountered with your plugin. I regularly perform a site audit using Ahrefs, and as of the latest check, I’ve noticed that the XML sitemaps for subdirectories corresponding to non-English languages are not being found.
Our website utilizes Polylang to manage content in five languages. I observed that in your changelog for version 5.0.5, there was a mention of addressing sitemap integration within the robots.txt for multiple languages. Despite this update, it appears that the sitemaps for languages other than English are still not being generated, even after clearing the SEO caches.

I must commend you on the overall functionality of the plugin; it has been performing exceptionally well aside from this minor hiccup. I thought it prudent to notify you of this issue, as it may affect other users as well.
I understand that troubleshooting such matters can be complex, and I appreciate any assistance you can provide. Thank you for your continued efforts to improve the plugin.

    Best regards,

    Laoren

    Hi Laoren,

Thank you for the detailed reply and compliments.

I didn’t mean to make you wait, but I usually only respond once I have an answer or the right questions.

I didn’t know where to look at first, but I just found that the sitemap endpoint is accessible at /sitemap.xml?lang=fr and /fr/accueil/sitemap.xml, but not at /fr/sitemap.xml.

I will start debugging this behavior soon and report back my findings.

    Dear Sybre,

Thank you for your swift and thoughtful reply, and for the work you’ve already put into investigating this issue.

I’d like to express my gratitude for pointing me towards the sitemap endpoint workaround. Following your insights, I’ve created a custom robots.txt file which has been acknowledged and accepted by the Google Search Console with great results. Your expertise has not only helped me navigate this hiccup but also enhanced the functionality for others who may face similar challenges.

With the solution in place and functioning correctly, I’m happy to move forward and close this case. Your willingness to explore this matter and the plugin’s robust performance are much appreciated. I look forward to the continued success and evolution of your work.

Best wishes and thank you once again for your exceptional assistance.

    Kind regards,

    Laoren
