Non-authenticated users cannot access protected content. There are three reports I have received.

    1. The user enters the password, the dialog disappears, but the secured content is not displayed.
    2. The user receives an error that the security check has failed and the dialog is full displayed.
    3. The user receives no feedback and the page just reloads.

I’ve seen all of them myself, but only #3 is consistent. If I’m logged in, it works. A new session never does on Safari or Chrome.
    Wordpress 5.4.2
    Passster 3.3.2

    Hey @dfarland,

    please try today’s release.
It was mainly a browser cache issue (that’s why it has worked for logged-in users). The fix for that problem is included in version 3.3.3.

Best regards and have a nice day,
    Patrick

No luck. I updated the plugin, cleared the site caches and tried it on Safari and Chrome for both Mac and iOS. I then turned on compatibility mode and cleared the caches again and no luck.

In all cases the password is accepted but the content is not displayed. If I refresh the page the password field is back.

The same problem. Correct password but the content doesn’t show after click Unlock.

    Hey @dfarland and @kakalotfreedom,

can both of you post a link with an example of a shortcode and a sample password to double-check that?

Also: Please post your settings from Passster->Options,
mainly the ajax option and the cookie setting.

    Thanks!

I am also observing issues #1 and #3 on the 3.3.3 release. I’ve tried with and without ‘Deactivate Ajax and use page reload’ on. Cookies are on.

Likewise – I’m having the same issue with 3.3.3 release.

I’ve also tried with and without ‘Deactivate Ajax and use page reload’ on. Cookies are on. Using WordPress Version 5.4.2.

I installed the last version 3.3.4 and the issue :

    1) The user enters the password, the dialog disappears, but the secured content is not displayed.

    is still present.
    Using WordPress Version 5.4.2.

To update – 3.3.4 seems even more problematic.

Now when password is submitted – nothing happens. When you refresh the page, you have to enter the password again. You submit again – nothing happens again.

    Thanks

I am experiencing these issues as well will there be another update today?

Firefox: enter password the field disappears but no content shows. Refresh page and you have to reenter the password.

Chrome: enter password field disappears but no content refresh page and content shows

I think I may have found the issue. The block type on the page changed from ‘shortcode’ to ‘custom html’. I can only assume this was caused by a WordPress update, because the page hadn’t had any changes for a long time.

I copied the old shortcode code, removed the block and created a new ‘shortcode’ block. That seemed to fix it, but I’ll have to test it some more.

Unfortunately, I spoke too soon. A lot of people are still having trouble. I’ll try and post a test URL later today.

    The password is 1234.

So far it only works for logged in users. I must have still had a cookie when I tested from the other device.

    Hey @dfarland,

ok, so when I add the password and submit it, the cookie is set.
That means the validation itself has worked fine.

The problem seems to be the unlock process with the cookie so,
but that works pretty fine for A LOT of users currently, so it would be a surprise if it’s an general issue.

Maybe your shortcode is outside of the actual page content? Maybe include in a template or within a custom field?

First, thanks for your nice plugin!

I read the issues and came across this one.
I don’t think this is resolved because I have the exact same issue.

    Passter version: 3.3.4.1 (latest)
    Page builder: Elementor
Theme: child theme of Hello Elementor

I had a test page, but had to downgrade to 3.2.9.1 because the password needed to work.

I made three forms on one page for testing, you can still see the test page:
    https://nolost.nl/test-passter/

The first (simple content) and third (content with html link) work fine.
The second one (content with another shortcode in it) has the issue described above. After submitting, there is just some blank space, not the hidden content.

With the downgrade, all three work fine, I hope this helps debugging, it would be nice if I will be able to update to the latest versions too.

    Regards, Chris.

Still seeing problems with 3.3.6 and WordPress 5.4.2

Upon entering password the page reloads but nothing changes. Users are still presented with the password field.

    @patrickposner

Maybe your shortcode is outside of the actual page content? Maybe include in a template or within a custom field?

Yes the shortcode is placed in a classic WYSIWYG field in Advanced Custom Fields.
