“Issues found with your review snippet markup”

  • I’ve three websites using this plugin.

    An email has been received from Google containing the following:

    “Issues found with your review snippet markup

    Dear Search Console site owner,

    Google systems show that your sites are affected by 119 instances of review snippet markup issues. This means that your review snippet markup might not appear as rich results in Google Search.

    Search Console now supports a new rich result report for review snippets. This report shows any review snippet markup issues that Google found on your site. Click a property in the list below to open the review snippet rich result report for that property:

  • Hi @smallbizgeek,

    I too am getting similar error in search console. I’m under the impression that Google have been updating things as usual. Seems they no longer use certain markups. The Markup used by this plugin should still be supported I believe however.

    When looking through the code I’ve noticed that under itemReviewed @type is specified as “Organization” but I can’t seem to find a way in the settings to change this at all. To a product for example. There is a global setting under Basic > Item Reviewed Options which will at least make sure there is a “name” added to all of the reviews.

    I’ve added a Global setting as the company name and submitted the fix to Google as the Schema now at least makes sense even though it’s not ideal. Hopefully the authors are able to give us a little more flexibility in this area very soon.
