    Hey,

We’ve had one of our clients calling up saying that they were unable to edit their website’s content. The client is only able to use the IE11 browser at their workplace (this is out of both ours and their control).

Last month, we updated WordPress to version 5.0.3 and installed the WordPress team’s Classic Editor plugin to override Gutenburg. Since then, the client has been experiencing these issues.

Once I’d deactivated the YOAST plugin, it seemed to be working correctly – there must be some conflict between YOAST and TinyMCE on IE. We’ve had to install an alternative SEO plugin for the site – but it would be great if this issue was fixed ??

  • I′ve had the same issue with Chrome and Firefox on multiple sites when using the classic editor. The only option is deactivating Yoast before editing (which is I cannot advice my customers to do).

The whole edit window freezes for pages and posts – even the tabs at the right-hand top will no longer respond.

As a workaround: I’ve disabled the metaboxes for the content types post and page, I′m now able to edit the posts normally – however, the Yoast meta box is unavailable.

I was unable to reproduce the behavior in IE 11 with WordPress 5.0.3, Yoast SEO 9.5, Classic Editor 1.4 and the Twenty Nineteen theme.

This may mean there is a plugin or theme conflict in your setup. Please attempt to disable all plugins, and use one of the default (Twenty*) themes. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one, starting with Yoast SEO, to identify the source of your troubles.

If you can install plugins, install “Health Check”: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/health-check/

On the troubleshooting tab, you can click the button to disable all plugins and change to a default theme for you, while you’re still logged in, without affecting normal visitors to your site.

If you are unfamiliar with checking for conflicts, we’d like to point you to a step-by-step guide that will walk you through the process: How to check for plugin conflicts
