Issues with 1and1 and Filezilla

When I manually install WP onto my 1&1 server space, I just follow these instructions from 1&1.

Yes that’s exactly what I have followed and I get up to step 6 and then nothing happens after that. Try and do step 7 but just get the default 1and1 page

What you should try is to use FTP to log into your servers hosting area, and see if there is a file called index.htm or index.html in the root directory. If you see anything like that – but not the WordPress index.php file – delete it. The reason fo rthis is that most hosts will havea default page there for when there’s no content on the iste, and you need to delete that holding page before your sites homepage will be live.

Thank you very much, I am now able to get on to the WordPress dash panel changed a theme but when I go to my website it still shows the default site, any ideas why this would still be happening?
