    Hello all,

After more than a week trawling the Internet, fruitlessly, I decided to seek help here:

My site works perfectly, but I am having issues with the admin user. It is quite weird, because this happened out of the blue, without changing anything or updating the content. From one day to the other, it stopped working. Now, symptoms:

I can log in as admin. No issues there. I can execute any admin option that is done through wp-admin/admin.php – that works perfectly. However, any other script under wp-admin (for instance, edit.php or edit-comments.php) fails with a “Forbidden. You don’t have permission to access this resource.”

Things I have tried (and don’t work):

    • I have removed .htaccess
    • I have removed all plugins and themes
    • I have made sure all files/directories have the right permissions (even changed them all to 777 to test)

None of the above helped. As an additional detail, even restoring an old version of the site (database and files) does not work, which kind of points out to an external (Apache? PHP?) problem, but having also tried to solve the issue with those did not help (no Deny rules, php is running – otherwise the site would not load at all)

I am at a loss. Any help before I trash WordPress forever would be really appreciated.

    Thank you.

This is not happing because of the files permissions. There will be two major causes for this. First check your logged IN user that its has administrator role or not if its ok then go to your cPanel and search for mod security and disable it. Because some times security modules marks some files as suspicious so in that cases this occurs.

Thanks, Umarzaki, for your help. The user does have administrator privileges. I don’t think that’s the issue, because:

    • Nothing has changed with it – it was always the same
    • I, nonetheless, added a new admin user directly in the database, just to make sure, and it had the same isssues
    • Finally, even if I restore an old backup, files and database, the issue is still there, which kind of validates the premise

Now, your second suggestion: I do not have cpanel, but webuzo (very buggy, but it is what it is). I also suspect that webuzo may have introduced some change that caused the issue (they screwed up my email server, which I also had to fix manually. Thankfully, that was much easier than this) If you let me know where to look, I will find it.

    Thanks.

i have same problem, i’m the only admin user and cannot visualize photos uploaded. It seems as i am not completely admin on site.
