When I try and add an area to a venue I get “An unknown error has occured” and the area is not saved (apparently)

However, if I DISABLE GAMP and look at the venue, I find the area HAS been saved!! Then if I re-enable GAMP I get

Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.

    bool(false) object(stdClass)#610 (3) { ["price_struct_id"]=> string(2) "12" ["product_id"]=> string(1) "0" ["display_order"]=> string(1) "0" }

If I DELETE the venue area I can activate GAMP, but still cannot add a area.

Plugin version 1.8.9 and WooCommerce version 2.2.11, with GAMP 1.1.4

  • Hello @bradleysp

When setting up an event for use with GAMP – things have to be done in a very specific order..

To help with this we have produced some How-To videos showing the steps at:

    https://opentickets.com/videos

Please can you take a look at the relevant videos to make sure you haven’t inadvertently missed out any steps

If you still have problems – we would like you to create an admin WP on the site for us so we can take a look

    Please let us know

Thanks Chris, but my question is related to VENUE AREAS not events. There are no videos which assist here. Also, as noted above, I can no longer activate the GAMP plugin. I have installed the 1.90 release and it makes no difference.

The video that covers how to set up event venue areas is the one entitled:

Event Setup – Setting up your first Event

If you have looked at this and are still having issues – if you can provide us with a URL and admin account for the site we will take a look

@bradleysp was this issue resolved with the latest plugin updates?

I am still getting the error when I try and activate GAMP, but as we have an event on sale until next Friday I really don’t want to make any further changes until then.

I will report back when I have had the opportunity to test further.

Hey @bradleysp – its been a while. Sorry you seem to be having trouble with the GAMP plugin activating. As it turns out, another client had a similar issue with just the OpenTickets Community Edition, with no GAMP. After some investigation, it seems that what happened was she removed and then recreated an event area that was previously associated to an event. This caused a situation where some of the venue areas were showing an event area id that no longer existed. That was causing her install to completely whitepage an error out.

Earlier today, I created a patch for this specific bug. Purely looking at the code and the bit you pasted above, it seems like this patch is probably going to solve your issue too. I hope it does. To be clear, this is OTCE version 1.9.5+. If this does not solve the issue, then chances are that I will need to patch the GAMP plugin in a similar way to resolve it. Either way, let me know, and I will take the needed action to get you up and running.

One final note @bradleysp – being as you are are GAMP customer, you do have access to the OpenTickets Support system. You should have credentials for this; however if you don’t, just send us an email and at [email protected] we will hook you up. On a more personal note, you were very helpful during our initial launch, and have been with us since then. Shoot us a mail at [email protected] and we could schedule a call to help you work it out if this patch does not work.

    Really hope this helps man,

    HI @loushou

That sounds very likely to be the issue! I haven’t upgraded to 1.9.5 yet, but will do later in the week once our current event has gone off sale.

Incidentally, I have had nothing by positive comments about the ticket ordering and management process. No more slips of paper, nice formatted lists of attendees – everyone is very happy, so thanks to you guys for the software and your help in getting it going!

    Thanks

    Absolutely Simon ( @bradleysp ),

Let us know how that works out, and if there are any more obstacles, we will work through them. An thanks for the complement!

Good news – it is all working. I updated to the latest plugin but still got the error activating GAMP, so based on your clues above I deleted all the records from wp_qsot_price_structures and wp_qsot_price_structures_prices and all is now working as it should be.

    Please note:
1: I backed everything up first and
2: Obviously I wouldn’t recommend deleting records out of the database without a safety net ??

    Cheers

    Simon
