Issues with Jetpack
-
I have just installed wordpress editor on my new site hosted by Namesco, and have found that I am unable to activate Jetpack because it is incopatible with Namesco hosting. The tech team offered the following explanation:
“The plugin Jetpack sadly isn’t compatible on our Shared Hosting Platform. The standard xmlrpc.php script is quite commonly installed with many free blogging. Unfortunately, it is quite easy to exploit and often abused by amateur ‘hackers’ and spamming groups for malicious purposes.
A number of plugins still use xmlrpc.php and the solution is normally to rename the xmlrpc.php file to another file name. However Jetpack requires the file to always be called xmlrpc.php and these changes won’t work.”
As I would like to have many of the features offered on Jetpack I am somewhat unhappy. Can anyone suggest a viable alternative, or better still, can wordpress provide an alternative version of Jetpack, as I believe several other users have experienced simmilar issues with other webhosting companies.
