Issues with minimum spend on cart page

We have used the code here to add a minimum spend rule to our shop:

The issue we are having is that if someone uses a coupon that causes the value of the cart to go below the minimum spend the error message is shown.

If they don’t apply the coupon on the cart page and only apply it on the check out page then the rule allows them to purchase.

This is causing issues as people think they can’t checkout if on the cart page because of the minimum spend rule.

As we were having issues we created a minimum spend rule in a plugin we purchased from Woocommerce.com. The plugin is also having the same issues.

We contacted the developers and have been waiting several days with no response.

Any ideas if this is a bug or if there is perhaps something wrong with the code.

I thought about not running the rule on the cart page but that seems like it isn’t best practice.
