    G’day Mikey

With version 1.4.3 on my Windows server (as per previous conversations here https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/plugin-wordpress-backup-to-dropbox-issues-with-v121?replies=12), the plugin stopped working, without any clear reason – it just kept saying ‘process has gone away – attempting to resume). I didn’t know what to do so thankfully I had only upgraded WPB2D on my site and not my clients so decided to wait for an update since I didn’t have time to go through finding out what was wrong again.

I’ve just updgraded to v1.4.4 and seems we now thankfully have a bit more info:

It gets started fine, but then seems to fall over on the very first subfolder it finds, complaining for example:

12:12:22: Error uploading ‘D:\[path]\wp-admin\admin-post.php’ to Dropbox: Invalid path ‘/MySite\wp-admin’: character at index 14: backslash not allowed

It actually first found a non-WordPress folder I had in my site, and since I didn’t need it that folder I deleted it, then the plugin just fell over on the next folder it found.

    Eventually it just says:
12:12:22: A fatal error occured: The backup is having trouble uploading files to Dropbox, it has failed 10 times and is aborting the backup.

Hope this will help you fix it again.
    Cheers
    Matt

  • Hello,
I am experiencing the same issue. Please let me know if you were able to resolve it. Thank you.

If you’re asking me, I’m leaving my sites on WPB2D v1.3 until a new version is released to fix the issue – just download the older 1.3 version and install it.
    Cheers

Same issue for me. Its seems to be adding a / before the directory name I want to back things up to, so, for example it does not like that the slashes are wrong in the destination path “/mybackupfolder\wp-admin”

    Using ver 1.4.4

    Hey guys

so I talked to Mikey and he is going to investigate the issue this weekend.

    Hey Mikey

It does seem to be be fixed, but FYI it takes about 4 days to complete a backup…

Also, on another matter, thought I should let you know that the ‘exclude’ folders from backup feature never saves/repopulates (not sure which) the checked checkboxes after you click save on the plugin settings. Actually I don’t think it has ever worked on Windows…

Anyway, keep up the good work.
    Cheers

In fact it has never finished the backup – it’s been on 99% for over 3 days now…

    Hey Mikey

I think there must still be problems with the plugin – backup is *extremely* slow (takes a week or longer), and it never seems to complete – it never seems to get passed 99%.

I was thinking, I could setup a WordPress site for you on my Windows hosting that you can use for development purposes if that’d help? I can have unlimited websites on my hosting and it’d be relatively easy to do, and I assume would make things a lot easier for you.

    Let me know
    Cheers

    Gday Matt,

That would be fantastic! I don’t have access to a Windows server at the moment which makes it very hard to test.

I am in the midst of testing version 1.5 that has a lot of performance tweaks and would love to test it in your environment.

Can you shoot the details to [email protected]?

    Cheers,
    Mikey
