    Hello!

I have been having an issue with Twenty Twelve. I have created a childtheme, and am making a website for a client. This is only the second time I am using WordPress to design a site (usually I use Dreamweaver) and I am feeling really lost.

Anyway; I have the site set up with drop down menus (a lot of them!), and I need to make two important things occur:

    1. Is it possible for the iPhone site to mimic the desktop site? The layout really changes from the desktop to the iPhone.

    2. I have an iPhones 5s, and the galleries (ngg scroll galleries) are floating all over the place within the mobile site. I did change the minimum site width to 200px, however the galleries are NOT responsive on the iPhone, meaning they are huge and clunky and fill the screen – is the second part of this question about the iPhone handling the site something I should post as another question in the forum?

Is this something I change in the CSS or the php?

For real -I am losing my mind over this, and need to get this site finished as soon as possible. Any help is appreciated and respected!

    here is the site: https://felicekoenig.com/

    thanks!

  • Your link does not work. I just made my website with that theme so get that link working and I will try and help you out.

Although If you don’t want the site to act responsive you really should not choose a responsive theme. And if you choose a responsive theme, you should make sure to use responsive plugins. Of course the only one of those two things you can do on a deadline is switch out the plugins.

    HI Adrian –
sorry for not making myself more clear. I did want a responsive site, however, I was hoping to have a site to mimic the desktop version. hopefully the link below works; as you can see the galleries are NOT responsive, the everything visually shifts to the left with the menus.

here is the link again: https://felicekoenig.com/

not sure why the link is broken in my first post.

what responsive plugins are you speaking about? could you please point me in the proper direction so I may resolve this?

thank you again – I really need the assistance!

Well I am surprised that the menu is acting that way, I tried adding a sub page to my theme to see if there was a way to organise it but the only thing you could maybe do is to use CSS the float the child pages to be beside its parent page in the drop down event, but that would still look ugly.

I think what you are going to have to do, is eather switch to a theme that handles many child pages well, or use a sidebar in each page to display your sub options.

For the later, you would basicly have to have all of the images listed (paintings drawings and archives), and then the user could narrow it down by clicking the category on the sidebar, so that only say drawings appeards. I think you may have look finding the right theme if you search for it. I know that probaly wont fit your deadline, but quality over timeliness right.

As far as the images, they don’t appear to be appearing too badly, but maybe just not what you want. Just go to add plugin and do a search for image gallery and try out a few. Make sure to read the discription to see if they are free or not. Look for the keyword responive too.

I am thinking eliminating the dropdowns all together, as well as having an edit to the width in the CSS could at least minimize the mess this will create. I think the sidebars are a great idea as well.

thank you Adrian – I think I will go with your advice and search for another theme for this website. Rather resolve this issue now, then have it get even more chaotic! I appreciate your feedback and help!! You resolved this for me!

No problem. Please remember to mark as resolved.
