• Hi, I am having problems uploading images – which is a first for me…

    I have been through the folders, including uploads, and made the files “777” – I expected this to fix the problem but it hasn’t. I called the hosting company who told me some balls about it being to do with the WordPress configuration…could this be the case? Can anyone point me in the right direction with this as it’s really holding up my work : (

    Thanks, Dan.

    What’s the exact error message?

    Hi, get this error;

    “The uploaded file could not be moved to /home/httpd/vhosts/neilanwilliams.co.uk/httpdocs/property/wp-content/uploads.”

    The root of the site is httpdocs… I wonder if that’s the problem…

    Make the folder 777

    Yep, done that….for some reason it’s made no difference.

    You should only make the folder ‘uploads’ 777, just FYI ??

    You could try changing Store uploads in this folder to /httpdocs/property/wp-content/uploads if that’s the root of your site.

    You may need to force them in on the General Settings -> Media page.

    ahem…same error message – I have tried making another folder as well as pointing WP to the folder like you suggested. No luck at all.

    Is this 100% a permissions issue?

    No, it’s not always permissions.

    It’s more that it’s ‘access.’ WordPress can’t FIND (and access) where it’s supposed to upload images. Most of the time, that’s permissions. Not always though. I’ve seen NFS mounts cause the same error.

    Can you go in via SSH and type in cd /httpdocs/property/wp-content/uploads/ and see where that kicks you?

    Also, who OWNS the uploads folder?
