Issues with Very Top Bar

I am trying to do two things with the very top bar and don’t seem to be able to do either of them.

1) I want to make the top bar sticky so that it stays fixed as user scrolls
2) I want to make the search bar take up the entire empty space that is currently seen between its current position and the left side of the logo.

Could you please help me to make these configurations? I’ve been at it for a couple weeks now and can’t seem to figure it out…
