• Hello,

I have a 3.5.1 Multisite installation running. I tried to use two automated methods of in stall in cPanel, one is called: “Fantastico De Luxe”, which breaks durning install. So, I used the “Quick Install” instead. It didn’t install in the root of the domain, and I left if blank to have it do that, but the root of the domain is:

    home/user_name/public_html/domain_name.com

/public_html is the “root” of the site where regular, non-WP site info goes.

Here is the sub-domain page: https://tester.harponthis.com

The main site works and WP is fine. Sub-domains, not so much. Not
even after waiting 72 hours. I’m lost, so please give me some ideas of what else to try. The host supports wildcard domains, so I’m rather baffled by all this. Did I miss a step in the process?

    Thank you,
    Brian

Your subdomains are set up wrong.

They should be pointing to wherever harponthis.com is installed. Right now they’re pointing to their own folder. Since this is cPanel, go into your subdomains settings and you SHOULD have a subdomain of * (yes, just that star) and the location would be something like /home/username/public_html/ depending on your host.

    Mika,

I changed the wildcard domain path as per your directions. Then I setup another sub-domain: test.harponthis.com and now all I see is “index of” and then a link to harponthis.com. Not sure if it needs to resolve for a few hours or what. Any advice?

    Thank you,
    Brian

Ask your webhost the exact way to set it up. That’s why I said ‘Something like…’ ?? Every host is a little different.
