Issues with WPFolio Child Theme

Hi.

I’m a beginner and I’m using the theme WPFolio. It comes with a child theme which I’ve activated successfully. However my website now looks very different from when I was using the original WPFolio theme. As I understand it, if you use the line in the child theme’s style sheet which imports the parent theme’s style sheet, the look of the website should be no different. I’ve tried changing various things on the child theme’s style sheet but none of them seem to make a difference when i save it. Can anyone help me?
Please understand I don’t know code, there are just a few things I wanted to learn how to change about the original theme, and the general consensus online seemed to be to do it with a child theme.
