• I know this will sound awkward especially for a plugin with 1M installations but i used this plugin to a most obvious web site = eshop with lots of products only to discover my web site crashing gloriously and me spending one night fixing it. Yes it could be some plugin conflict i know but it happened and since it happened i can’t say anything else ?? And has happened again in the past again the same situation. i will just optimizer my images my self next time and be secure.

  • Hey @xbass540,

Sorry if you had any trouble with the plugin. But I can’t seem to find any support thread or report on support forums through which we could have get to known the issue you’re facing and probably help you figure it out.

Did you ever created a support thread?

    Thanks, Umesh

    hi,
can you please explain how your answer justifies the fact that i ended up with a broken eshop?
To answer: i didnt have time to wait for some support since it was a next day launch so i had to move fast: I had to fully restore backup of the website.

You should provide a safe optimiation option in case the Plugin doesnt work. I think you provide this in the Premium version that has a free trial period but still i am not sure anybody can trust a Plugin that can crash their website and then trust their recovery tool.

I trusted the plugin since it is so well known but like said it has already happened twice.

    Hello there @xbass540

hope you’re doing good today and don’t mind me chip in here! ??

can you please explain how your answer justifies the fact that i ended up with a broken eshop?

It doesn’t justify anything, we simply don’t have other cases where Smush was causing that directly.

There’s no such functionality in Pro version. The “restore” can be happened for already optimized images with the “Smush my original full-size images” and “Make a copy of my full-size images” options.

I trusted the plugin since it is so well known but like said it has already happened twice.

As we’re really keen on having a completely bug-free plugin, please do reach us in support threads here: https://www.ads-software.com/support/plugin/wp-smushit#new-topic-0
and we will be more than happy to help you troubleshoot this.

    Warm regards,
    Dimitris
