    Hello,

For last couple of days I has been working on backing up my website which is pretty big (about 5GB). It took too long for the plugin to back up all of the files so in order to do it faster I used FTP and downloaded everything to my computer and then successfully uploaded it to my dropbox account (to the same folder as this plugin uses). My objective was to back it up manually so when i let the plugin start the backup next time it will only upload the changed/new files.

Before starting a backup with the plugin I turned off the sync of my computer and my dropbox and when I turned the plugin backup on I found out that it backups files that are already backed up (they already existed in my dropbox and havent been changed for sure). I found it out comparing the backup log and the files on my computers in dropbox wpb2d folder (the files were synchronized with my dropbox account, and as I said before starting backup with the plugin I turn off the sync between my computer and my dropbox account).

So instead of just checking new files or changes it uploads everything from the scratch even the files are already there. And if I stop the running backup and start it again it will start with the same file as the previous backup started.

I use WordPress 3.4.2 (waiting for a successful backup to upgrade) and WordPress Backup to Dropbox 1.4.2.

    Thank you for your help.

    Gday mate,

This wold be because the plugin had no notion of when the last successful backup occurred thus no timestamp to check the uploaded files against.

Subsequent backups since this one should only upload what has changed.

On a side note, even through the backup said it uploaded the files, Dropbox would have used its smarts to realise that it was the same as what is already there and skipped over it.

    Cheers,
    Mikey

Ok, that makes sence… thank you for your answer. The Dropbox actually does what you says that it ignores the files (it says the file has been changed but in version manager theres not the “newer” version) but anyway the plugin sends the data. I need it to complete the backup.

Is there any place where I could change it manually (e.g.,a file) because it takes too long to backup 5GB website from scratch (I wish I had found and used your plugin since I started to create the site :))

    Thanks.
