It doesn't generate 2x for the original image.

    There will be support and direct upload available in the dashboard in the next version of the plugin coming out in a very few days. That will be part of the Pro version. Standard users will still be able to upload them manually by FTP (by making sure the dimensions and the filenames are correct).
