Same for me. I end up with a non functional site. I can get to the admin panel but clicking on anything in the admin panel, like “Appearance” actually takes me back to the original site, which is not at all what I was expecting.

Just tried it and same issue occurs here. Nothing only a blanc page while creating a back up.

OP, what do you mean “request ftp access ? key all data”. I’ve used it and had it work easily on a number of sites, but I did note that it can’t get the file for restore if the file is in a protected folder. Did you try moving the backup file to somewhere that is accessible?
