  • Have your images already been optimized by another script?

    Please advise,
    Ari.

No, I have not used anyting else in wordpress. I have scaled them in Gimp before uploading.

Then perhaps Gimp saves them already optimized for web…

Could you try with a normal photo?
One that has a size on more than 500KB but less that 1MB

    Cheers,
    Ari.

Ok, I can try, but all my photos are bigger than 1 MB because I want best quality for other use too. But, I will try ??

GIMP creates standard encoded .jpgs but compression (ranging from 100% to 0) is user controlled via the Save dialogue.

the smush.it service cannot process images larger than 1MB!!!
    Yahoo doesn’t allow it… https://developer.yahoo.com/yslow/smushit/faq.html#faq_restrict
So if you’re uploading images larger than that size they will not be processed.

    Cheers,

I tried now With a smaller image. It worked, but I had to do it manually after uploading, then I got an error Message (could not find…), and then I resmushed it, an then it worked.

Thank you for Your help, Guess I have to find out how to compress the Images more in Gimp. Thank you!

Although smush.it can’t really help if images are larger than 1M, an update will be coming shortly that fixes a lot of bugs so at least for smaller-sized images it will get the job done. ??

    Cheers,
    Ari.
