Even after complete removal of the plugin, page source still shows 19 remaining entries something like this: id=’icegram_container’ data campaign=”xxxx” id=’icegram_shortcode’ data campaign=”xxxx”, link to ice gram css and so on.

Common guys! This is totally unacceptable. How to clean up my WP install?

    Hi tpack,

It looks like you are using some caching plugin on your WordPress site. If yes then you can use “Empty Cache” option of that particular plugin and then run the same test case again. It should solve the problem because in WordPress, if you deactivate plugin then none of the functionality of that plugin works.

Is this reply help you to solve your problem? If not then please provide some more environment details of your WordPress site so we can get better idea about this problem.

    Naresh, thanks for your reply.

I do use WP Super Cache but it was disabled at that time. I found solution by manually removing all icegram shortcodes placed earlier at the end of some posts and pages. After this, all popups and remaining entries completely disappeared. Other plugins handle this more elegantly: after removing their plugins all shortcodes left simply convert to text.

    Hi tpack,

Yes, you are right. Icegram shortcodes should be removed after deactivating Icegram plugin. We will surely work on this and the fix for the same will be available in the next version of Icegram.

    Thanks for reporting.

There could be two sides of looking at this.. Whether to remove shortcodes on plugin deactivation or not.

Shortcodes are inserted manually. So they should be removed at author’s will – and not automatically. Plugin deactivation can be for multiple reasons, so removing shortcodes on plugin deactivation can cause issues of “my shortcodes are gone.. bad plugin…” as well.

I don’t think removing shortcodes automatically is the solution. We can add a feature to remove them in plugin settings though. So if you wanted to remove shortcodes all at once, you can do so from admin..

    An update to this:

Version 1.4 of Icegram lets you perform some “housekeeping” actions. Removal of shortcodes from content is one of them.

    So this is done!
