Just bumping this up in hopes that someone can help me out. I’ve checked out other blogs using this theme and the blanket text on the home-page is not italicized like it is on mine.

I’d really appreciate it if someone could help me with this. Thanks!

I had the same problem. I did figure why the theme is doing it, but can’t say how to fix it. My site wasn’t all italic, only everything from the block 4. The reason was: the excerpt of block 4 ended with italic font making everything after that italic (block 5, footer, sidebar). I noticed that you have a slider post which excerpt ends italic (The Fender Stratocaster -post) making all after that italic. I didn’t figure any way to fix it, but making the excerpt not ending italic, so if anyone have a solution to this, i would also appreciate.

Wow — thanks so much! It fixed everything.

The reason is that since the excerpts cut at weird arbitrary places, the cut-lines still have an open italics tag so it bleeds out onto the rest of the page. So for the time being I’ve cleared all the formatting on the cut-lines in the posts.

What I’d really like to know is how to control the length of the excerpt that appears on the main screen, so that it ends in a complete sentence, which you can then properly tag and close.
