iTheme security leading to blank page

    Hi,

    Yesterday I had to remove some malicious code from my server and erase a few unwelcome files on different websites hosted by this server. Everything went fine except on one of my sites https://noubel.fr. Whether I want to login or just display the front page, everything leads to a blank page. The culprit : iTheme Security. I removed the plugin from the server and my website worked again.

    Next I made a clean reinstall of iTheme, but it lead to a blank page again after I activated it. So I had to remove the plugin again.

    I have no clue what happens and I would like to know if someone has experienced the same problem.

    PS: maybe removing iTheme AND cleaning all information from the db would allow a complete clean reinstall, but I don’t know how to do that.

    Ok, I found a way to resolve this. It may help others.

    1. Open the plugins page in wp admin.
    2. On the server side, add the Better WP Security folder into the /plugins folder.
    3. Refresh the plugins page in wp admin. You will then see the iTheme security plugin in deactivated mode.
    4. Uninstall it. This means it will not only remove the folder on your server but also erase all data in the db.
    5. Then do a clean reinstall.

    You will have to reconfigure everything again, but at least you have an up and running website.
