Is it normal that iThemes Security does not allow the wordpress administrator role to change users’ passwords?

Only when the plugin is active and a password is changed for a user by the admin the user gets a wrong password error.

Hi @drhnews, apologies for the delayed response! The plugin does not restrict admin users to change the passwords of the site users. I’ve tried this on my test site, and I could change the password of the other site users. Does the wrong password error after saving the new password on the WP > Users page? Or does it happen when the site user tries their updated password? Is the Strong Passwords module enabled? If so, please ensure to put in a strong password when updating the password.

Hope this helps, and I’m looking forward to hearing from you.

    Hi @drhnews!

Following up here to make sure you’re all set. I also just tried to replicate a problem by doing the following:

    1. Create a user
    2. Install and activate iThemes Security
    3. Change the user’s password while logged in as an admin
    4. Attempt to log in as the new user with the new password
    5. In the iThemes Security settings, force strong passwords.
    6. Change the password again, while logged in as an admin
    7. Attempt to log in as the new user.

    Everything is working as expected.

I’m going to mark this topic as resolved, but if you can get me some steps to replicate the issue, we’re happy to have a look.

    Have a great day!
