It’s a bit of an abomination…..
-
We are small UK based agency that manage around 120 WordPress builds. We have yet to have a client not complain about how bad they feel the Gutenberg experience is and would it be possible for us to roll their builds back to the last version of WordPress.
We have tried to give it fair chance over the last few months with all of our new builds and to say we find the whole experience clunky at best is an understatement. At this point we wholeheartedly agree with the clients. People don’t like change and that’s fair. Sometimes these things grow on you the more familiar you get but I can’t help but feel with Gutenberg, it’s like trying to fix something that wasn’t broken. In addition, it feels more like and attempt at trying to compete with all of these hideous drag and drop / block building extensions and platforms.
The roll out earlier this year has caused nothing but issues for us and on this occasion I can’t say it’s headaches for the longer term greater good.
Gutenberg really does not work for us or our clients and I’m sure we are far from on our own. It would be great if the option was there to leave Gutenberg out on initial WP Install or even if it was added to JetPack out of the way of those that really don’t see any benefit at all from it’s presence.
