Hello, I encountered a problem with the “State or Province” field.
Each time I try to modify it shows me the empty field end the original value doesn’t change in the database.

I also tried a fresh installation of WordPress with no other plugins installed but “The event calendar,” but the problem is the same.

I opened a ticket five days ago, but I have not received an answer yet.

    Thank you
    Gianfranco

  • Hey @gianfry70it

Thank you for reaching out to us.
We are sorry for the delay in response. We have had a larger influx of tickets than normal recently and are working through them as quickly as possible.

    Yikes! That’s not good.

First off, if you haven’t already done so, please make sure that you are using the very latest version of our plugins. I am bringing this up because there was a recent bug that had similar symptoms that were fixed.

Secondly, I am not exactly sure what WordPress theme you are using and if you are using Block Editor or not. Either way, please head over to Events > Settings > General and see if unchecking the option “Enable Block Editor for Events” helps? You’ll need to update your settings for this to kick in, of course.

    Hang in there!
    Geoff

Can confirm that disabling Block Editor does not work.

    Good morning @gianfry70it and @kytmagic

Thank you for testing the Block Editor idea.
As it turns out, we had other reports of this issue and we were able to reproduce it.

Our apologies for the inconvenience and we are working on a hotfix for this.

    Hang in there!
    Geoff

Should we be running things in Classic for optimal performance?

Because the blocks can sometimes that a long time to load, I almost feel like using Classic to enter basic details and then turning on the Block Editor in general seems smoother. Just wanted your overall take on this, Geoff.

    @kytmagic

That’s a great question. I believe it comes down to your preferred workflow.
For now, I believe Classic Editor is faster to create events.

With that in mind, we are currently reworking our Block Editor workflow to even the score and leverage the powerful display possibilities it offers (templates, block patterns, etc.).

But if you like your current workflow that’s great. You might want to look into using the Classic Editor plugin and making sure you can toggle editors. However, please wait about 10 days before you try that out because we are just about to release a compatibility bugfix for that specific setting ??

    Cheers,
    Geoff

    Hi @gianfry70it and @kytmagic ,

Thank you very much for your patience on this issue. We have a solution which you can use in the meantime before we release a permanent fix on the 17th of March.

Here is a download link for a version of The Events Calendar which contains a solution. Please upload it to your site and let me know if the issue gets resolved on your end.

Please make a backup of your site before uploading the file or upload it to a staging environment first.

Let me know how it goes.

    Cheers,
    Eugene.

    Hi @eugenetribe
I made a backup of my DB and tried the plugin. For now, it seems it is working fine.

    Thank you

I tried the plugin. Seems to work!

@gianfry70it @kytmagic awesome! A permanent solution will be included in our upcoming release.

Thanks again for hanging in there.

    Cheers,
    Eugene.

    I still find something strange @eugenetribe & @gianfry70it.

My site: https://www.kyt.gg/events. The first address has Alberta as province, but when I use “Alberta” filter, it doesn’t bring up the first address. I have 0 idea why.

    Thanks!

    Hi @kytmagic

So sorry to hear that you are experiencing this additional issue! This appears to be an issue on the front end. Do you have a custom Google Maps API key? (this is only available with Events Calendar Pro) You can read about how to set that up here: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/k/setting-up-your-google-maps-api-key/

You may also want to read up on troubleshooting Google Maps here: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/k/troubleshooting-google-maps/

    I hope that helps!

    Thanks,
    Jaime

I already had my own key and every other address works. What’s even more peculiar is when you click on the event itself to get tickets, you see the location just fine in the Event Venue block.

Actually scratch that, it works now but I have no idea why? I disabled Block Editor and then re-enabled it.

Is this message only triggered by Google itself?

There’s no way for us to manually tell the plugin that maybe something needs to be refreshed I assume?
