Hey @roostertail! Thanks a ton for reaching out. Many of the reviews we see are either on one side of the spectrum or the other, so seeing a two-star review–though not ideal for us–is much appreciated because you’ve clearly given this some thought.
I’m extremely sorry and bummed to hear that you hit too many issues to make the calendar work for you. I’m curious: at what point did the issues become too great to overcome and what sort of issues were you facing? Was there a specific issue that came up that was clearly coming from The Events Calendar that we should be treating as a bug report? Please do let us know so we can clean that up not just for you but the rest of the community as well!
I’m also sorry to see that our level of support let you down. While we do try to build the plugin in way that makes it compatible with as many themes as possible, the fact is that there will be some cases where a theme conflict has to be resolved at the theme level. I realize that is frustrating because we too would like to see more themes integrate with The Events Calendar as well but have to recognize the integration is sorta like a two-way street. We can only do so much to support those types of integrations on our end and theme developers often need to meet in the middle.
That said, I’m truly sorry if we put you off in any way through our forums–the last thing we want to do is simply turn the blame around point you in another direction. That would not be cool at all and goes against our own standards of excellence for supporting the plugin. If you can link us to a thread where that has happened, I’d be happy to check it out and bring it up with the team to make sure we do right by you. On that same token, if you know what theme you are using and the theme developer has any questions or ideas for us and what we can do to integrate better on our end, we’re certainly welcome to it!
Thanks again for your thoughts here and for taking the time to share your feedback here with us. Our goal is to make the best plugin we possibly can, which means we’re constantly improving — and if we can earn more stars and praise from people like you in the process, then that’s a great bonus.
Best,
Geoff
