We use a plugin called ‘Series Engine’ which manages our Sunday sermons at church which uploaded into our website. This plugin automatically produces a RSS feed which updates out iTunes podcast
During October this feed stopped updating iTunes. We have been working with the plugin author trying to rectify the problem. There has been an update to your plugin during this period.
One of the Feed validation companies online has come up with this problem
    “Is the SSL certificate iTunes-compatible?
iTunes supports feeds that start with “https://”, but only from eight popular SSL certificate providers. If this feed uses HTTPS, this tests whether it uses a compatible certificate provider.
This feed uses the SSL certificate authority “cPanel, Inc.”, which is not compatible with iTunes.”
Have you come across this problem? Has there been some change to our SSL certificate during October?

This sounds like you are having an issue with the certificate authority. As Really Simple SSL is not an SSL certificate itself, this can’t be caused or fixed by Really Simple SSL.

It’s stated that only eight providers are supported. I don’t know which these are, but if your actual site’s certificate (which is provided by your hosting company) is not on the list of supported providers, the only solution is to get a different certificate (from a supplier that is supported). It depends on your hosting company if this is possible. It would seem a very limiting approach from iTunes.

It’s also possible the issue is not related to your domain’s certificate, but caused by the SSL certificates shipped with PHP, which are used for CURL. Usually such issues can be fixed by either updating PHP to a more recent version, or by updating OpenSSL, which is a package on your server that can be updated by your hosting company.

    Hope this helps!
