• Hello, I have set up everything in PowerPress up to where you wait for iTunes to accept the podcast, and they have sent me an email that it was not accepted. In the email, my podcast’s name is shown like this:

    Name: >> podcast

Here is my feed url: https://www.halodiehards.net/category/podcast/feed/

The only other thing I can think of that might make a difference, is instead of using the shortcode, I’ve just plugged the podcast media url into the post, since WordPress now inserts a media player automatically. Is there Blubrry code for iTunes that appears in the feed only if you use the shortcode? (I have the setting turned off to put the podcast on every single post).

I’m also EXTREMELY unhappy that it displays the email address in the feed, why does it do that? Does this mean I’m going to get more spam?

First, I would not call your category ‘podcast’, just like you would not call a category ‘feed’ or ‘rss2’. Once you podcast, the word ‘podcast’ is a registered slug for the podcast feed.

If you must use the word ‘podcast’ for category/page slugs, you can read here to learn how to change it: https://create.blubrry.com/resources/powerpress/advanced-tools-and-options/podcast-slug/

As for the email required in your feed, contact Apple. This is their requirement. I can tell you though that this is a good feature, because Apple will email you at that address when they accept your feed, and also when they have news specific to your podcast, which could include a promotion or a take down notice for legal reasons. iTunes will not accept podcasts that do not have email addresses and we’ve seen them de-list shows that after the fact removed their email.

If you don’t want your podcast listed on iTunes, then you can leave the email field blank.
