Hi, well the title says it all really.

I have lost everything tonight whilst doing some maintenance on the site.
I was using WP-DBManager and first of all the back-up facility wouldn’t work, I wasn’t to worried as I had backed up a few days ago with simple backup plugin. So I continued with DBManager to optimize the site, did that no problem and continued to empty/drop tables of deactivated plugins.
After selecting the tables I wanted to drop the page I was confronted with was the “Install wordpress” welcome screen.

And so I stand before you all, a broken man who doesn’t know what to do.

The blog I need help with is dtcollectabletoys.co.uk.

  • Did you save the tables in the backup?

I don’t know what was saved in the back up, it was using simple back up for wordpress. But i don’t know how to reinstall the back up file

You’ll need to go into the zip file that was created by Simple Backup (in your FTP) and pull out the database SQL file.

Thank you, but I have found another way.

I went in to my hosting accounts control panel (cPanel) and at the very bottom was the databases section. In that section was MySQL which when selected to me to the wordpress database with a handy dropdown menu of actions, one of which was RESTORE. I selected restore where I was warned that it would restore the database from a backup taken 11 hours ago and so I took a shot and my site is back up and running.

Great to hear…glad this is resolved.
