Japanese.0 Malware on Shared GoDaddy plan
-
Trying to help a non profit that was hacked. Symptons started with google search results showing Japanese words along with the domain name but the site was working. Then days later the site was showing as a blank page and the WordPress Dashboard was not functioning as usual. Scanned with Seccuri and it reported Japanese.0 infection. Changed the theme and was then able to install WordFence which found over 2,600 issues. Downloaded the site and export of the PHP database but stopped from letting WordFence repair as it warned me not to do it unless i know what i am doing… and I don’t know what i am doing! Also i realize that there may be a bigger issue in that the site is just one on a Godaddy shared hosting plan with the primary site being the oldest and most neglected (not updated) so suspect the site i am trying to fix was actually infected by someone who hacked the primary site. The primary site had wordfence, but it is missing from the Dashboard. I tried to reinstall and was told the Wodfence folder already exsiits. Went to rename the Wordfence folder and found the FileManager is missing from the dashboard. typed in the URL for the file manger and it prompts for login. Login and nothing happens. Where do I even begin to solve this? Thanks for any insights you can offer!
