I just downloaded SlimStat today and have found that when the plugin is enabled, I receive a Java prompt on my site. When it’s not enabled, the prompt goes away.

Is Java being used by this plugin? It’s not listed in the System Requirements area of the Description. If it is required, might I ask why? Java has seen severe security issues, especially as of late, and I don’t want it being run on my site if I can help it.

    Thanks!

    Hi there

Java is not required per se, but the plugin attempts to detect if java is installed on your visitors’ browser. Internet Explorer 8 is misled into thinking that the plugin wants to execute some java code (no code is executed indeed) and that’s why you see the alert. I’m working on the issue.

    Thanks
    Camu

Ps: a vote for my plugin would be nice

Thanks for the reply. For what it’s worth this is happening on IE10.

Yes, by default IE10 should have that ‘alert’ disabled, but of course people can enable it. Anyway, I’m removing JAVA detection completely, in version 3.0. Those who need it, will be able to write an add-on for SlimStat to reintroduce it ??

    Cheers.

Good to know. I look forward to 3.0.

fwiw, I don’t believe I’ve changed any options in IE10 and I’m getting the error still.

Weird, I haven’t changed anything in mine either, and I don’t see the error ??

Could you check if you see the error on my site at
