• Just installed Comet on another site – Currently using WP 4.94 but have been using Comet Cache on a few sites since it was first introduced as Zen cache. This because years ago (when Jason was still in the lower 48), I started using S2member, another great plugin also developed by WebSharks.

My anecdotal results say W3 might be a tiny bit better in terms of performance but it’s much deeper with a maze of settings so perhaps its just because you spend lots of time tweaking that it seems faster – kind of like a car runs better after its been washed. Either way, Comet easily gets you 99% there, seriously dramatic speed improvements and all you have to do is turn it on.

There is a lot to be said about real Plug&Play!!!

I neglected to note that there is actually one “tweak” that should be made by most users, anyone on a typical Linux hosting account which mostly are Apache servers. At the bottom of the settings page (Apache Optimization), turn on G-Zip. Even without it, performance increase is great but the compression can definitely help.
