    hi

i am currently on a paid jetpack package, with a self-hosted wp.org website. i understand that the more i blog, the more visibility my blogs will get in time, both on the basic wordpress.com reader and via tags and categories.

in the meantime, however, i’d like to understand this: is there any difference in the level of visibility of posts one gets on the wordpress.com reader between 1) those posted on a self-hosted www.ads-software.com site linked via paid jetpack subscription, and 2) a wordpress.com blog-post?

please note, i am asking in regards to the reader where the ‘general wordpress.com public’ searches for new blogs to subscribe to, i.e. i’m not talking about the visibility on my followers’ readers.

    thank you

  • Hi Fritz,

Jetpack sites will be listed in “Sites” search results but only those with a paid plan appear in “Post” search results.

The “Followed Sites” area displays your recent posts to anyone who has subscribed to your site and has a WordPress.com account. This functionality is available for both Jetpack and WordPress.com sites.

Only Jetpack sites with a paid Jetpack plan will appear on Tag pages:

    https://jetpack.com/support/reader/

Posts published on WordPress.com sites are listed on Tag pages with or without a paid plan.

    I hope this helps.

thank you Gemma for your response – much appreciated.

i understand the facts you point out entirely, thank you. however what i would like to know is specifically this question: running a www.ads-software.com self-hosted site with the basic paid jetpack subscription, is there ANY DIFFERENCE in visibility that my POSTS get in comparison to if i would post on a standard wordpress.com site? I’m asking about POST visibility not under ‘followed sites’ nor ‘tags’, but under the general search area in wordpress.com.

    thank you

    Thanks for clearing that up!

Actually, all posts will receive the same level of visibility, no matter if it is between a free or paid source.
