• I’m a www.ads-software.com user, but I use wordpress.com stats. I received a message this morning telling me to install the Jetpack plugin to get further updates on wordpressstats.com. So I did this, only to find that to authorise Jetpack to connect with wordpress.com I need an account. Why would I have or need to have an account with wordpress.com as a .org user ?

    I don’t understand !

  • Even before Jetpack — you had to have a wordpress.com login in order to use the wordpress.com stats for your www.ads-software.com site. So even though you weren’t hosted by wordpress.com — you could still use their stats functionality by linking your www.ads-software.com site to them. It’s a subtle difference that can be easily confused IMHO.

Go here to change your WordPress.com password:

I’m sure you had one if you used WordPress.com stats.

    Hi Ballet News Admin,

As vsgreaves has said, you have needed a WordPress.com account in the past to use the WordPress.com Stats plugin. The WordPress.com account links your self-hosted www.ads-software.com blog to the WordPress.com cloud, which enables WordPress.com to uniquely track your blog’s traffic.
