Jetpack 3.4 Update: Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_generate_password

Same here, I rolled back, updated Jetpack and received the same error type although on a different php file in my theme, twice, just to make sure.

Please recall this plugin update.

When I try to visit the stats module in Jetpack, I receive the following error message:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_generate_password() in /home/X/public_html/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/class.jetpack-client.php on line 54

I receive the same error as the other guys above is I try to visit the settings page for Jetpack:

Manage could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error. Perhaps there is a conflict with another plugin you have installed?

Somebody should have this checked.

Same has happened to me today when I updated. Flashed the same error message above then white screen and my site went down. I deactivated all plugins and reactivated one by one to narrow it down. Jetpack is the culprit. I can’t replicate the error message though if I reactivate Jetpack my site just goes to white screen and I can’t do anything until I FTP in and deactivate everything again.

Is there a way to rollback the plugin? Can i manually install an older version from somewhere in a developers directory until the issue is resolved?

I got the same error, I’ve deleted jetpack from /plugin and re-install it still got the same error.

Same here, I hope they will fix this soon, as it brakes my other plugins too

Thanks all for the reports. We’re aware of the problem but we haven’t been able to pinpoint the source of the bug yet.

Could some of you send us a stack trace of that error? We haven’t been able to duplicate this on our end just yet.

If not, could you include additional details on your site—what version of WP are you running, what modules of Jetpack did you have active, etc?

After the update to 3.4.1 my problem disappeared. So something in that update was a fix for my problem.

@gioxx Could you try to deactivate each module, one at a time, and let me know if you can pinpoint the problem to a specific module?

After the latest update, my wordpress dashboard is broken – can’t even login to disable Jetpack.

This is the error I get when I try to open my wp-admin URL:

“Fatal error: Call to undefined function inet_pton() in \\nawinfs02\home\users\web\b498\rh.bsearles\wordpress\wp-content\plugins\jetpack\modules\protect.php on line 276”

I assume at this point my best option is to FTP in and delete the Jetpack plug-in directory?

@bsearles Thanks for the report. You will indeed need to delete the Jetpack plugin via FTP to be able to access your dashboard again.

I get the same error:

Our site still functions, and we can access the CSS editor, but not site stats (which is ok in our case; we use another GA plugin for that when we deploy live).

Jetpack Version 3.4.1

If needed, I can provide the URI to the site, but it’s in development and we’d rather not share it until it’s a little more stable ??
