    I have just learned how to use WordPress and I have been working on a site for 2 weeks, learning different things. I was 100% complete with the page setup and 95% complete with the new customization. I was very proud of my site! I had been seeing the Jetpack 4.4.2 nag message at the top the entire time I was building and had just ignored it, but since I was close to being totally complete and because so many of the other sites (I saw during research) had giving the Jetpack plugin such high marks, I decided to get rid of the message. I clicked activate Jetpack and logged into www.ads-software.com, after that I was trying out my first customization and realized there were several problems. 1. My front page images and slider was gone. 2. My background color selections and full width were gone. 3. the top WordPress bar for toggling in and out of edit mode was gone and lastly when I thought I was just going to have to fix the problems….Everything in WP-Admin, except the top toggle bar, was there and correct in the attributes but the site is not displaying as such. I tried to move back a revision but it did not fix the problem. I also tried to deactivate it but that didn’t work either. Please Help!

  • I have been using JetPack for a couple of months, and have been quite happy with it.

    Until today.

    We moved the site to another server/host. And upon the renewed activation, loadtime went from 310 ms to 31 seconds. Yes… HALVE A MINUTE.

    Furthermore, template does not load, nor do widgets.

    Something seems to be seriously wrong with the latest version…

    Note that NO ADDITIONAL plugins were installed, so it cannot be some incompatibility issue.

    Jetpack Mechanic ??

    @calvinpegues Sorry to hear that!

    Since some of the problems remain after deactivating the plugin, it means that some of your issues are not caused by Jetpack. Some of them might be, though!

    A good first step would be to deactivate and delete Jetpack altogether, and reinstall it from scratch.

    Then, once you’ve done so and if the problems remain, go to Jetpack > Settings in your dashboard and deactivate each Jetpack module, one at a time, until you find the module that seems to cause issues on your site.

    For example, you could try to deactivate Jetpack’s Photon module first; as it is an image CDN, it may be what’s affecting your images.

    Background color selections and full width settings are often set by the theme, or via custom CSS. You’ll consequently want to check your theme options first, then try to check WordPress’ CSS editor under Appearance > Customize in your dashboard.

    That top WordPress bar for toggling in and out of edit mode doesn’t sound like a core WordPress feature or a Jetpack feature, unless I am missing something? Are you referring to the black admin bar that appears at the top of every page on your site when you’re logged in, or did you have something else in mind?

    If that bar was added by your theme or a plugin, you’ll want to check your options to see if you can bring it back.

    Lastly, if your WordPress dashboard layout is broken, I’d recommend checking for Javascript errors on the page, as explained here:

    Let me know what you find!

    @jeroenla That definitely should not be happening! Could you please start your own thread, as per the Forum Welcome, so we can work together to find what’s causing the issue on your site?

    Thank you!

    I couldn’t figure it out so I just rebuilt the site. I needed the practice. I installed the Jetpack first this time and have not had any problems.

    @jeremy:
    I had a dev look at it. Don’t ask me what he did, but he did get things working again. Quite a relieve.

    Jetpack Mechanic ??

    I am glad you could both solve the issue!

    Let me know if this happens again with the next update!
