I’m setting up a new website (I’ve used WordPress and plug-ins for years although I’m completely ignorant when it comes to code etc.), and after installing Jetpack, I experienced problems trying to connect to WordPress.com to complete the installation. This error message appeared:

Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.
Warning: require(F:\Domains\TNC03\christovandeventerphotography.co.za\wwwroot\wp-content\plugins\jetpack/modules/vaultpress.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in F:\Domains\TNC03\christovandeventerphotography.co.za\wwwroot\wp-content\plugins\jetpack\class.jetpack.php on line 438 Warning: require(F:\Domains\TNC03\christovandeventerphotography.co.za\wwwroot\wp-content\plugins\jetpack/modules/vaultpress.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in F:\Domains\TNC03\christovandeventerphotography.co.za\wwwroot\wp-content\plugins\jetpack\class.jetpack.php on line 438 Fatal error: require(): Failed opening required ‘F:\Domains\TNC03\christovandeventerphotography.co.za\wwwroot\wp-content\plugins\jetpack/modules/vaultpress.php’ (include_path=’.;C:\php\pear’) in F:\Domains\TNC03\christovandeventerphotography.co.za\wwwroot\wp-content\plugins\jetpack\class.jetpack.php on line 438

In uninstalling the plugin, and just before confirming the deleting the plugin, I noticed this:

You are about to remove the following plugins:

Jetpack by WordPress.com by Automattic (will also delete its data)
Random Redirect by Matt Mullenweg (will also delete its data)
Are you sure you wish to delete these files and data?

I’ve never used Random Redirect by Matt Mullenweg and not sure how it crept into the Jetpack plugin?

Anyway, after deleting the plugin, I was redirected to a blank screen. Although, if I press the page back arrow, I return to my dashboard, every time I do anything with plugins I end up on this blank screen.

I’ve deleted all my plugins and reinstalled the latest version on WordPress, and still get redirected to a blank screen every time I try install a plugin (any plugin). In fact, every time I update a page or try post a blog I get the blank page.

I searched the forums and have found nothing that helps.

Could you try to log in to your site via FTP, and delete the existing Jetpack plugin folder? You should then be able to reinstall the plugin manually by following the instructions here:

Meanwhile, have you talked to your host about the issue? It looks like they may be missing a php module (pear) on your server, as mentioned in one of the error messages. Let me know what the host says.

    Hi Richard

Thanks for your reply. In waiting for your response, I asked my host to delete my account and restart it since it was a brand new site. Pleased to report that now that I’ve freshly installed the plugin it’s working perfectly. Thank you.
