Hi, I’m wondering if more people experience issues with Image CDN option in Jetpack Boost. I used to use Smush to resize images, but the Jetpack Boost Image CDN makes my website speed much faster. However, not all images are showing. In the example URL above you can see that the third image is not showing (under the text and header: Are there whale & dolphin species in the waters of the Canary Islands?) . I’m experiencing this, that some pics are now showing, throughout all my posts.

I was also wondering if WordPress’ own performance plugins could conflict with Jetpack Boost, and particularly images? I’m referring to the WordPress plugins: Image Placeholders, Speculative Loading, Auto-sizes for Lazy-loaded images, and Modern Image Formats. Those plugins are to be found in settings -> performances.

Thanks for your feedback and help!

    Kind regards, Ellis Derkx

Hey @ellisderkx, thanks for reaching out about Jetpack Boost!

When I look under the “Are there whale & dolphin species in the waters of the Canary Islands?” heading, I’m actually only seeing one image there, but I also don’t see any “broken” images, either. Here’s a screenshot of what I see: https://d.pr/i/2Fb1Qx

Can you share a screenshot with us of what you see there?

Regarding conflicts with other plugins: generally speaking, having plugins that provide duplicate functionality or optimizations is unnecessary at best, and at worst, can cause problems on the site. Are you using all the plugins you mentioned above? I think those are likely being bundled or added to WordPress via your host. If so, I’d recommend toggling them all off first (leaving Boost active) as a first line of troubleshooting the image issues you’re having. You can even refresh your Boost scores (there’s a screenshot of where to do this in this doc) afterward as well to see if you see an increase in your site’s overall performance as well.

    Does this help?

    Hi @jenhooks,

Thank you so much for your help!

The thing is that I now changed it all around. I didn’t know someone was going to reply to me, and I didn’t like it that in each post certain images didn’t show. When I used Smush for images, the images showed again but it slowed my website down a lot. So today, I’ve uninstalled Jetpack, Smush and Wp Super Cache and switched to LiteSpeed cache with CDN and image optimization. So that’s probably why you see the image showing up again.

I’m not sure if it helps but I think that it has something to do with uploading them as different files. I think they might not have been WebP images, I have been experimenting with different settings switched on an off and my only conclusions was that I probably uploaded them with converting to WebP switched off. But I wasn’t bothered to go through all older posts to re-upload images.

I’m sorry I wasn’t patient enough to wait for help to come through. I still have to see how everything works without JetPack but for now you can close this issue. Oh and yes, I tried it with the WordPress performance plugins toggled off, but that also didn’t work. Certain images stopped showing when I activated Jetpack Boost Image CDN, and showed again when I deactivated that option. But when deactivated, my site became super slow. That’s why I looked for an alternative solution.

    Thanks for your help!

    Best regard, Ellis
