The size fields show as NaN.

Could you let me know where these fields are displayed on your site? Is that a setting in your dashboard?

Screnshots may also help. Could you please send screenshots so we can better understand the issue? ?Please see https://en.support.wordpress.com/make-a-screenshot/ for information on making screenshots.
You can use services like https://snag.gy/ to post your screenshots here.

    Thanks!

Hi Jeremy. They are in the Edit media screen when trying to change the scale of the photo.

    Here is a screenshot. https://snag.gy/iV1tx.jpg

The image is currently 1536×1536, if I want to scale the image by entering new dimensions I type another number eg 500 in one field, the other one displays NaN, if I set the value in the second field instead then the first one changes to NaN. The normal behaviour is for the second field to be set proportionally to the original size.

I can’t seem to reproduce on my end:

Do you run an older version of WordPress? If so, could you try to update to the latest version?

Could you also let me know what other plugins are currently active on your site?

It looks like from your screenshot that you are editing from a different screen.
    1. If I edit straight from the library the problem is there.
    Media->Library->Edit->Edit Image Button = Problem

2.If I edit the image from a post it is not.
Posts->Edit->click on image in post->click on pencil in popup (edit)->Edit Original Button->Edit Image Popup Screen = Works Fine

I can’t seem to be able to reproduce the issue on my end: here is what I see when going to Media->Library->Edit->Edit Image Button:

I’m not sure why you see a different version of the Edit Image tools.

Could you try to deactivate each one of your plugins, one at a time, and let me know if the problem disappears when deactivating a specific plugin?

If that plugin is Jetpack, could you them go to Jetpack > Settings, and deactivate each module, one at a time, and see if you can narrow down the issue to a specific module?

    Thanks!

Jeremy before I do this, your video doesn’t show you changing the number in the box. this is when the other field changes to ‘NaN’

Your screens look like wordpress.com I’m on a self install where the screens are different.

OK I’ve turned off all the Jetpack Modules and it works fine. Turning them on one by one shows that it is the wordpress.com stats that is the culprit in making it fail

I’m afraid I can’t reproduce when changing the numbers either:

My site is also self-hosted, and runs the most recent version of WordPress and Jetpack.

Turning them on one by one shows that it is the wordpress.com stats that is the culprit in making it fail

That helps. Could you try to make the following changes to your Jetpack installation, and let me know if it helps?

Could you try to log in to your site via FTP, delete the existing Jetpack plugin folder, and reinstall the plugin manually as explained here:
    https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Managing_Plugins#Manual_Plugin_Installation

You’ll want to install this modified version of the Jetpack plugin:
    https://github.com/pippinsplugins/jetpack/archive/issue/1851.zip

Let me know how it goes.

    Hi Jeremy,

OK. Rather than delete and manually install the entire plugin and lose my settings, I unzipped the fixed plugin file and grabbed the code from the stats.php file and pasted it in to mine. I’m not sure what the difference was so I don’t know why it broke before, but it worked fine this time. And yes it has fixed the problem with the NaN in the scaling fields!

    Thanks, Rosalie

Excellent, I’m glad to hear that! We’ll include the changes in the next Jetpack release.

Thanks for your help. I’m a retired developer so I know how tricky this stuff can be to track down.

I was also having the image editing NaN issue and this fix worked for me too.
