• I am getting this error message when trying to connect jetpack with my wordpress account

Jetpack could not contact WordPress.com: register_http_request_failed. This usually means something is incorrectly configured on your web host.

    Anyone knows why?

I’m getting the same error. Did you find a solution yet dspruyt?

The website is online or local ?
Are you sure to upload in the server all wordpress files ?

Mine are online, and I did the auto-install through the plugin section of the admin panel.

I’m having the same problem and I’m getting the same message “Jetpack could not contact WordPress.com: register_http_request_failed. This usually means something is incorrectly configured on your web host. SSL connection timeout”. Not very helpful, could be anything!

Try asking your hosts for assistance.

My error message says “Jetpack could not contact WordPress.com: register_http_request_failed. This usually means something is incorrectly configured on your web host. There are no HTTP transports available which can complete the requested request.”

I’m on my own dedicated server, Linux, with HostGator so if there is something I can tweak, I’m willing to try. I’m already tried deactivating ‘W3 Total Cache’ and disabling my server’s firewall, but that didn’t help.

try to see if in the wordpress root have the file xmlrpc.php
