    Hi,

I am having trouble connecting my site’s Jetpack plug-in to WordPress.com. Here is what I have tried:

    1) I have disconnected the plugin, reinstalled the plug-in and then connected it. On my site’s admin console the Jetpack plugin dashboard says “Your site is connected to WordPress.com. You are the Jetpack owner.” and everything looks OK. My stats are reporting correctly in the plugin dashboard.
    2) But on WordPress.com I am getting the red exclamation mark.
    3) I am also getting errors connecting my social media accounts, e.g. Facebook gives: 500 status code for “POST /sites/103216928/publicize-connections/new”
    4) My XML RPC URL returns the following OK: “XML-RPC server accepts POST requests only.”
    5) Jetpack debug at https://jetpack.com/support/debug/ says “XML-RPC is not responding correctly ( 401 )”
    6) SSL Labs test returns A+ for my site SSL certs
    7) I can’t find any other plug-in conflicts (e.g. Wordfence) or Theme issues

    Any thoughts welcome!

    Thanks,
    Chris

    Hey Chris,

Thanks for trying to troubleshoot the issue on your own, first off, and for passing the results of that ??

I can confirm that the connection issue is caused by the fact that we can’t reach your xmlrpc file.

In fact, if I head to https://www.khas.co.uk/xmlrpc.php I get a sign in pop up. The page should be fully accessible to have Jetpack connect to your site properly.

Can you please reach out to your hosting provider and let them know about that? They should be able to sort that out for you.

Let me know how it goes. Thanks!

Thanks for your reply. I will ask my hosting provider if there’s anything they are blocking.

I am also using CloudFlare CDN so is there anything I need to disable on there? I just disabled minify for JS but it doesn’t seem to have made any difference.

    Hi Stef,

My hosting provided had an additional layer of security preventing access to the XML-RPC page. They have now disabled it and Jetpack now connects perfectly.

    Thanks for your help.

    Cheers,
    Chris.
