    HELP
Contact form not working with Jetpack (or the inbuilt theme).
It’s not getting stopped by my host provider because this is Gmail. I’ve refreshing and checking my Gmail and no emails. I CAN see them in Feedback. I’m not using any other contact plugin and I really would rather not. I have no interest in running off and quickly learning how to code and would really just prefer this plugin to work.

I’ve read a few dozen support threads today (several wasted hours) and still no clue why I’m not receiving emails for comments or for contact form.

    Things I’ve tried:
I have removed “comment author must have a previously approved comment” in Settings/Discussion.
I have checked the Settings/General email is the correct Gmail.
I have configured the Jetpack contact form to have the right Gmail.

This isn’t going to some random host, this is Google’s email which should either be in my inbox or spam, its not in either.

After reading all this, does someone have a definitive fix without sending me down yet another rabbit hole? I really would like to, you know, get on with other things.

    Thanks!

It sounds like your hosting provider has disabled PHP’s mail() function, which Jetpack, like other contact form plugins, uses. It’s the same function that is used by WordPress to send you comment notifications, or notifications about new users registering on your site.

This is a common safeguard employed by hosting providers when they suspect that another customer on the same server is sending spam emails directly from the server.

Another alternative is that PHP’s mail() function is still active, but spammer activity from the server has already caused any email sent from it to be blacklisted. This would result in the emails being sent, but never received by any email address with basic anti-spam capabilities.

You can check this by leaving a comment on your site and checking if you receive an email. Another alternative would be to use the Check Email plugin and sending yourself a test email to see if it works? You can download the plugin here:

If you didn’t receive a test email, you could try using a plugin like this one to configure your WordPress site to use your email’s outgoing mail server instead of PHP’s mail() function:

    Hi James.

    THANK YOU!

Your plugin suggestion to use Postman SMTP worked perfectly, which means my host must have PHP disabled.

THANK you again for such a prompt answer!
