Every time I install and/or activate Jetpack, my site immediately crashes and all I see is “500 internal error”. It’s really frustrating – how can I get it running properly?

I know enough to delete the files from my host’s server so I can get the site up again, but I’m not too knowledgeable about a lot of this stuff so I’d appreciate jargon-free help if possible.

Could you try to follow the instructions here, as this could have something to do with the amount of resources available on your server:

If that doesn’t help, could you add the following to your site’s wp-config.php file?
```
define('WP_DEBUG', true);

if ( WP_DEBUG ) {

        @error_reporting( E_ALL );
        @ini_set( 'log_errors', true );
        @ini_set( 'log_errors_max_len', '0' );

        define( 'WP_DEBUG_LOG', true );
        define('WP_DEBUG_DISPLAY', false);
        define( 'CONCATENATE_SCRIPTS', false );
        define( 'SAVEQUERIES', true );

}
```
Once you’ve done so, try to activate Jetpack again. Then, check the wp-content/debug.log file for errors, and paste the results here. You can then replace define('WP_DEBUG', true); by define('WP_DEBUG', false); in the code above.

I have the same issue and have the debug log – nothing in it! What am I doing wrong that I can’t get Jetpack to work?!

If that doesn’t help, could you try to increase the amount of memory allocated to PHP on your site, as explained here:
https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Editing_wp-config.php#Increasing_memory_allocated_to_PHP
