I’m supporting a website I didn’t create, it uses a contact form. That page says:

Your site doesn’t include support for the "jetpack/contact-form" block. You can leave this block intact, convert its content to a Custom HTML block, or remove it entirely. Keep as HTML

Jetpack is installed and 21 other Jetpack blocks exist. The relevant setting is enabled:

Jetpack Blocks give you the power to deliver quality content that hooks website visitors without needing to hire a developer or learn a single line of code.

    Hi @dbareis

Thanks for sharing your site URL.

I see that Jetpack can’t communicate with your site. As a first step, we’ll want to repair the connection.

I’d ?suggest ?checking if ?you ?have ?any? security ?plugins ?activated that? might? be? blocking? our requests.? If ?not, ?try ?contacting ?your ?hosting ?provider ?and ?asking ?them? to ?check? their ?security ?logs ?to ?see ?if ?they ?are ?blocking? or ?otherwise ?limiting ?incoming ?and ?outgoing? connections ?over ?XML-RPC.?

Jetpack? uses? this ?file ?to? communicate ?with ?your ?site, ?but ?some ?hosts ?block? connection ?requests ?to ?that ?file.

Our? requests ?look ?like ?the ?following:

    • ?File:? ?https://www.wcipp.org.au/xmlrpc.php?
    • User-agent?header:? Jetpack ?by ?WordPress.com
    • IPs: ?https://jetpack.com/support/how-to-add-jetpack-ips-allowlist/

Please ?ask ?them? to ?allowlist ?the ?IP ?addresses? listed? above. ?Note? that ?these ?IP ?addresses ?could? change ?(or ?more ?could ?be? added)? at ?any ?time,? which? could? break? your? connection ?to ?Jetpack. ?For ?this? reason, ?we ?actually ?discourage ?allowing ?specific ?IPs, ?although ?with? some? hosts ?it ?may ?be ?the? only ?option.

Let ?us ?know ?how? that ?goes. Once we have a working connection, we can continue troubleshooting.

Well I’ve learnt not to reply to WordPress forum emails ??

I’ve taken over the site, I’m not connected as jetpack won’t let me as there is someone else connected, no luck trying to get them to disconnect although they said they would… I would have thought that should show the block from showing up, better would be to allow it to be used with current connection and or tell me when you try to set it up.

When it fails to add me it reports no errors but goes back to retry.

So unless you can tell for a fact that there is a network issue then the above is likely the issue.

    Hi there

There does indeed appear to be a network issue affecting the connection. Our requests to the site’s xmlrpc.php file are returning a 503 Service Unavailable error.

I’d suggest contacting your hosting provider and asking them to check their security logs for any blocked requests to the xmlrpc.php file on your site, using the Jetpack by WordPress.com user agent.

You can also ask them to allow our IP addresses listed here:

Please note that these IP addresses could change (or more could be added) at any time, which could break your connection to Jetpack. For this reason, we actually discourage whitelisting specific IPs, although with some hosts it may be the only option.
